Bird watching is a year round activity and many species are endemic to Puerto Vallarta┬┤s particular ecosystem.

Coastal and marshland bird: Puerto Vallarta has many species living in the Banderas bay premises. Some of the birds you can find are night herons, ducks, spoonbills, egrets, avocets, sandpipers, kingfishers. The best spots watch them are on the way to Mismaloya, or near Bucerias and the North East of the bay.

Mountain slope bird : On the jungle covered mountains of the Sierra Madre, you can find several species of birds, including woodpeckers, doves, flycatchers, parakeets, jays, magpies, orioles, hummingbirds, mockingbirds, owls, hawks and eagles.

Bird watching is a morning activity, the best hours are from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm. The coolest time of the day is when the sun slowly rising.
