Barra de Navidad, Vallarta

Located in the Costa Alegre, in the western coast of Mexico, between Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, Barra de Navidad is in the state of Jalisco. Its curving beach extends towards the town of Melaque.

Barra de Navidad features about 5000 residents and offers a tranquil setting where to spend wonderful relaxing vacations. Barra de Navidad offers incredible beaches, bike tours, boat tours, jungle tours, snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving, fishing, and sightseeing, among other fine services and holiday´s attractions.

Along the coastline of Barra de Navidad, beaches such as Melaque, only 3 km. away, are wonderful settings either for romantic walks or for fun activities under the sun.

Fishing is highly recommended and lovers of this activity will be able to catch Marlin, Dorado, Sail Fish, or Tuna. In addition, every year, during February and November, two international fishing contests are organized in Barra de Navidad.

Besides, a gorgeous golf course designed by Robert Van Hagge is located in Isla Navidad.

The main beach in Barra de Navidad is called "Playa Principal" and is somewhat steep, causing close to the beach braking waves. Surfers get good rides here.

"Playa de Cocos" is close to Barra de Navidad and though dangerous for swimming, it is good for fishing. "Boca de Iguanas" is a beautiful six mile stretch of beach, located about 19 miles northwest of Barra de Navidad.

Among the tradition and cultural celebration stand out the January 17th San Antonio Abad´s animal blessing, September 15th and 16th, Independence festivities, and November 1st and 2nd Day of All Saints and Day of the Death, respectively.

Accommodations for every budget can be found in Barra de Navidad as it is true for the entire Costa Alegre. Good restaurants, medical services, and transportation means either by plane, bus, rented cars, or particular vehicles are all available in Barra de Navidad and its surrounding areas.
