48 hours in Merida

Can anyone tell me some great ways to spend 48 hours in Merida? I'll be there first week of March '08. Thanks

a must is the market. Very interesting, clean and good deals to be had. A great experience. Also a good restaurat is Casa Frida they make a terrific dish there - stuffed pepper with an almond sauce. Also you could hop on the bus and go to Progresso for a couple hours. It's on the gulf of Mexico, neat town and nice people. Have fun

Merida in 48 hours is just enough to see the basics. There are several pointers you must consider: - 9.30 am free tour of downtown Merida at city hall in front of the main plaza. - After the tour take CARNAVALITO BUS TOUR, this takes about 2.5 hrs and its $75 pesos, takes you all over the city. - Every night there is a free cultural activity, check this link: http://yucatantoday.com/en/topics/things-do-merida - Progreso (the beach) is only 30 min away so you can spend the day there and have fresh seafood. - Dzibilchaltun archaeological site is also near by on the way to Progreso. You can see the Maya Museum, the ruins and a cenote all at once. Happy travels! Andrea
