Boutique Hotel de Cortes is a charming 17th century Mexican baroque style building turned into a modern chic boutique hotel in the heart of Mexico City. This landmark building dates back to the 17th century and it was used as an inn where the Saint Augustine friars would stay before setting off on their voyages to the Philippines in their attempt to convert Filipinos into Christianity. In 1780 the building was renovated to include the façade that it now bears and it was named the Saint Thomas of Villanueva Inn. It has endured the passing of time and has witnessed the most important events that have shaped present day Mexico City.
