Hotel Morales Historical and Colonial Downtown Core, Guadalajara

Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown is a colonial and historic property built in the 19th century. Around 1930 it became known as the bullfighters hotel and remained like that for several decades. Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown is proud to affirm that bullfighting celebrities were their guest and personalities of the golden cinema age of Mexico such as Maria Felix “La Doña” Pedro Infante Jorge Negrete and Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”; as well as outstanding figures of the Mexican politics and even The King of Soccer “Pele” spent the night here. The Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown bar and the old barber shop were the meeting places of the bullfighting milieu where everything was merriment and comradeship.
There are rumors and legends about tunnels that connect Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown to the Metropolitan Cathedral. The date and reasons by which these underground passages were forgotten and cancelled remain unknown. Likewise the use they were given is a mystery nonetheless their existence does give an enigmatic touch to the hotel. It has been classified as artistic heritage and colonial jewel of the city of Guadalajara; it’s also registered in the inventory of the (National Anthropology and History Institute of Mexico (INAH).
