Playa del Carmen is well deserved by a 4-lane express way, running from Cancun to Tulum. From the city of Cancun, the fastest way to reach Playa del Carmen is using the bus leaving from Cancun main terminal, located on Tulum and Coba Avenues. During day time, there is a bus almost every 30 minutes. The trip take less than 1 hour in a full AC bus. Taxis also offer the service but the cost is really expensive and the trip is not faster.

Playa del Carmen is famous for it peaceful atmosphere, great location and the famous 5th avenue. The avenue is the heart of Playa del Carmen, full of live and attractions. The avenue is mainly pedestrian only, and offers a wide variety of stores, shops, restaurants, bars and some small hotels. The 5th or “La Quinta”, as the locals call it, starts on the square where the ferry to Cozumel is located and goes North for 2 miles. This place is a must visit in Playa del Carmen.

The city is also famous for its beach and the great view it has of the Caribbean and the Island of Cozumel. (Only 40 minutes by ferry) Playa del Carmen is located 15 minutes North of the famous Eco-Park Xcaret and is a great starting point to explore the beauty of the Riviera Maya.

As one of the fastest growing city in Mexico, Playa del Carmen offers you all you can expect from Wal-Mart, Sam’s, Costco to movie theater, various banks office, money exchange, department stores and many more. Playa also has a small airport, for private flights to Cozumel and Chichen Itza.
