Boca del Rio obtained this name in the XVII as it is next to the Jamapa River. However, it became a city in 1988 and now it is a municipality next to Veracruz city.
It is located about 15 km. or 9 miles from the Port of Veracruz through Highway 150. Boca del Rio features beautiful beaches where visitors love to relax or to practice different water sports and activities. This destination is well known for its delicious cuisine, especially, sea food. Boca del Rio is a modern, growing city with world-class hotels, nightclubs, exclusive shopping centers, specialized restaurants, and first class services to satisfy tourist demands, including a World Trade Center. The interesting archaeological zone Zempoala is located 40 km. or 25 miles north of Boca del Rio. It covers a three square mile surface.
