Between Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, on the Mexican Pacific coast, Costa Alegre is part of a larger coastline named Gold Coast and it is becoming a world class destination. Several attractive tourist destinations can be visited along the Costa Alegre. Going south toward Manzanillo, two interesting and picturesque points to visit are Barra de Navidad and San Patricio Melaque. Then, Tamarindo, La Manzanilla, and Boca de Iguanas are wonderful spots just in the south part of the Bay of Tenacatita, which, finally, leads to Bay of Chamela and Costa Careyes. Sun and sea, two combined elements, await you just half an hour north of Manzanillo airport in San Patricio Melaque and Barra de Navidad. Tourists who love uncrowded beaches will find in Melaque total inspiration. The town has served as a retreat for artists who offer interesting workshops both for experts as well as for novice artists.
On the other hand, Barra de Navidad represents an excellent spot for surfers with its medium size waves. Barra offers both a 5-star luxury hotel with an 18-hole golf course and many modest and cosy hotels to enjoy this part of the Costa Alegre. A tranquil, little fishing village is La Manzanilla, located in the southeast point of Bay of Tenacatita. The beach here joins Boca de Iguanas and both feature jungle borders. Visitors will find a wide range of lodging options and for those planning to stay longer apartments and guesthouses are available for rent. Boutiques, cybercafes, and restaurants make this places quite recommended to visit. Bay of Chamela, north of Bay of Tenacatita and Costa Careyes, host nine islands with unrivalled sunsets and excellent diving sessions. Pasavera and Colorado islands, for instance, offer white and red cliffs of incomparable beauty. Other islands worth visiting are Pajarera, Cocinas, San Pedro, San Andres, and La Negrita. Costa Alegre is an attractive and ecological tourist destination affordable to any budget. It is possible to find lodging options ranging from youth hostels or small bungalows and hotels, to luxury special class resorts. Incomparable natural beauty can you expect along this part of Mexico. | |
