Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas

Located in the northeast point of the state of Tamaulipas, the city of Nuevo Laredo borders, across the river, with Laredo, Texas. Nuevo Laredo is north of Sabinas Hidalgo and Monterrey. This city is located 517 km. or 321 miles north of the capital city of the State, Victoria. Today the city´s main activity is related to transport and logistic industries.

Nuevo Laredo offers an interesting handicrafts market named Maclovia Herrera. Here, visitors find extraordinary blown glass pieces. In addition, the city has a Craftsmen Center that should not be missed by tourists. It can hold more than 1200 people and a bookstore and a library are also available.

"The Summary of the History of Nuevo Laredo" is the title of a XIX century book written by Juan Richer; it can be known in the Historical Archives of Nuevo Laredo that anyone interested in the history of the city should visit.

Nuevo Laredo Cultural Center is a space for concerts, theater plays, and dance performances among other cultural and artistic activities. Soon, more theater activities including experimental theater are thought to be included in its programs.

The main festivities in the city take place during the first part of September featuring commercial, industrial, and cattle exhibitions.

Other interesting sites in Nuevo Laredo are the Founder´s Monument, the Old Train Station, the late XIX century Holy Child Temple, and the Railroad Museum.
