Altamira features heavy petrochemical activities and, at the same time, some of the best lagoons and beaches of the state.
The sunny climate most part of the year ensures great vacations enjoying these beaches. Altamira is the industrial and port center of this region of the state and it is backed up by the docks of Tampico in the Panuco River where loose cargo is handled.
Altamiras´s importance is mainly related to tax revenue and employment creation. A very promising tourist project is being prepared in the state of Tamaulipas. This poses Tamaulipas as the national leader regarding hunting possibilities.
