Playa del Carmen is a charming city laying on the beach of the Caribbean Sea. It is the heart of the Riviera Maya and it is about 32 km south from Puerto Morelos and 68 km south from Cancun. This world renowned destination is 63 km north of wonderful archaeological site Tulum. During day time, there is a bus almost every 30 minutes. The trip take less than 1 hour in a full AC bus. Taxis also offer the service but the cost is really expensive and the trip is not faster. The avenue is mainly pedestrian only, and offers a wide variety of stores, shops, restaurants, bars and some small hotels. The 5th or “La Quinta”, as the locals call it, starts on the square where the ferry to Cozumel is located and goes North for 2 miles. This place is a must visit in Playa del Carmen. The city is also famous for its beach and the great view it has of the Caribbean and the Island of Cozumel. Playa also has a small airport, for private flights to Cozumel and Chichen Itza.
