The city of Los Mochis is the center of the agricultural activity of the state of Sinaloa. Irrigated by the river El Fuerte coming down through the valley of the same name, this region is rich in agricultural products such as vegetables, sugarcane, beans, and corn.
From Los Mochis to the sea, the land is all flat and when the fields end, the marshes begin. These marshes are a natural environment with mangroves, bushes and trees and are home to different species including the yellow crocodile or "Crocodylus acutus". On a guided tour, tourists who like adventure and natural settings can admire these reptiles. Los Mochis can be distinguish from other Mexican cities because it features an old American residential area. It is in this area where the Sinaloa Park is located. This is a natural park with a large collection of palm trees that represents a great place for a stroll or just to relax under a shade. Close to Los Mochis, about 15 miles, is the port of Topolobampo, which is famous for its great fishing activities and excellent catches for exportation. And nearby Topolobampo, heavenly beaches Maviri, Punta de Copas, and Las Hamacas are sites not to be missed. Tourists seeking tranquil and desert spots should come here.
Only 45 minutes by boat from Tobolobampo bay is the Farallon of San Ignacio. From here it is possible to admire the wonderful natural beauty that represents the sanctuaries of large colony of seals and sea lions. Los Mochis is the departure point for the legendary Chihuahua - Pacifico railroad journey, also known as "Chepe". Departures are scheduled daily at 6:00 am. | |
