Culiacan, Mazatlan

Capital city of Sinaloa and located in the central part of the state in a valley where two rivers meet, Culiacan is at an equal distance from Los Mochis to the north and from Mazatlan to the South of this amazing state.

Culiacan has wonderful beaches both for those seeking peaceful inspiration by the sea and for travelers who like boisterous sites full of activity. Among the former, visitors should come to beaches like de Ponce, El Robalar, El Conchal, and Las Arenitas, whereas among the latter, tourists ought to go to beaches like Medano Blanco, Vigia, Barra de la Tonina, and Casino del Mar.

About 20 minutes driving from Culiacan is Imala, a town that offers hot springs that are believed to have curative properties. At the same distance, Nuevo Altata is a beach recently developed with good restaurants and private areas. Within Culiacan, the Fun Park Culiacan 87 features swimming pools, artificial lake, sport fields, horse riding, boats and kayaks for rent, and a 140 meters slide. The Civic Center Constitution offers zoo, outdoors theater, and museum of regional history.

La Primavera is like a small city within Culiacan and it offers a Nautical Club or Marina and excellent options to eat. Cascabeles is a dam where visitors enjoy fishing and many different water activities.

Other attractions include the Palace of Government, the Cathedral, the Casino of Culture, the Museum of Art of Sinaloa, and the urban development "Tres Rios".

Culiacan is home to professional baseball team Tomateros and professional soccer team Dorados. Besides, from early November through March, Culiacan opens hunting seasons for duck, dove, and goose.

Culiacan was founded in the 16th century by the Spanish conqueror Beltran de Guzman. However, historians believe that by 628 a. C. this place was already inhabited by Aztecs who built the city during their early journeys.

Culiacan is the second most important tourist city of this Mexican state. It reaches almost one million inhabitants and it offers wonderful beaches, interesting sites, and excellent food. Culiacan offers nautical clubs, hunting clubs, archaeological sites, hot springs, dams for fishing and water activities, and many ecological sites to observe nature and millions of immigrating bird species.
