To reach Torreon by earth, coming from the south and from the east, either by car o by bus, highway No. 40 will take you directly to the city. Coming from the north, highway 45 connects to the city. Torreon is served by several bus lines that travel from and to different cities. By air, Torreon has the Francisco Sarabia International Airport, practically located within the city. Torreon has many tourist attractions like its magnificent City Park and other public spaces in order for visitors to enjoy nature. The Founders Park is dedicated to the persons who participated in the founding of the city. Las Etnias Park was developed with the purpose of protecting the city environment. The Arms Square is a loyal witness of different historical facts since it was built in 1905. The Venustiano Carranza Woods - the city lung -, the Juarez Square and the Zaragoza tree-lined Avenue - with a public library and an artificial lake – are other public locations for locals and visitors to enjoy outdoors. Several interesting museums can be visited, for example the Regional Archaeological Museum, the Numismatic Museum –the first in the north of the country - the Arocena Museum, the Train Museum, and the Museum of the Revolution, among others. Many historical buildings can be admired in Torreon. One of them is the Isauro Martinez Theater, inaugurated in 1930. Sculptures, architecture, and paintings make this building a flattery for the senses. Besides, on the street corner of Juarez and Valdez is the Chinese Bank, a building of the beginning of the Twentieth Century that later housed a hotel. Another interesting building is the Arocena Building, inaugurated in 1920 and featuring several Art Deco and Art Nouveau elements. The Casino La Laguna and the Municipal Archive are two more examples of the impressive architecture of Torreon. Torreon features a wide variety regarding gastronomy. This is due to the different ethnic groups that have come to the city. Therefore, it is possible to find diverse cuisines types such as Spanish, Lebanese, Arab, Argentinian, Brazilian, French, Japanese, Chinese, and, of course, Mexican.
Hotels, movie theaters, and shopping malls are also available in Torreon. They provide all the services of a major city. Besides, Torreon has an interesting nightlife including bars and discos with different musical styles. Torreon surroundings features great options for adventure and alternative tourism. Possibilities are numerous indeed. For example the Silence Zone, though a desert landscape, is worth appreciating.
