Society was based on agriculture and people were organized in different social strata. At the top of this hierarchy was the royalty that needed the tribute of the people in order to keep the structure, not only in the city but in a more extensive region. It is possible to admire lintels where battles are depicted. In them, prisoners were taken into sacrifice during astonish ceremonies with dances and fire. After the year A.C. 800, the city was abandoned and it marked the end of the Lords of Bonampak.
