About twenty kilometers north of Cancun, Isla Blanca is a small stretch of land with narrow sand bank and with a very low altitude over the sea level. To the east, the island limits with the Caribbean Sea, whereas to the west, Isla Blanca borders with the waters of Chakmochuk Lagoon.

A reef is one mile or 1,550 meters away from this beautiful island. Isla Blanca is considered a heaven for fly fishing where among the main targets are Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, and Snook.

Although it is not really an island, Isla Blanca or White Island is north of Cancun and south of Isla Holbox. Here is also the Chacmuchuk Lagoon where you can swim. Isla Blanca is on the East side of the lagoon.

The area is connected by a road that is in pretty good condition. And, besides, this is a great opportunity for a day trip from Cancun.

Although most of the fishing is done from the boat, all year around you will find Permit, Snook, Bonefish, Barracuda, Tarpon, and many others. Therefore, this spot is considered a paradise for fly fishing.

It is also possible to stay at Isla Blanca. So if fishing is your purpose, it could be better to avoid the travel time.
