Cancun North Beach, Cancun

Cancun’s Hotel Zone can be divided in 3 sections for an easier location of restaurants, nightclubs, and hotels. North Beach is located between Km 0 (known as the Entrance to the Hotel Zone) and Km 8.5.

It starts at the intersection of Bonampak Avenue and Kukulcan Boulevard and it ends at Caracol beach and Punta Cancun. North of this zone is Isla Mujeres, while south of it is Nichupte lagoon. You will find many hotels, recommended restaurants, food, and huge nightclubs. It is the closest section to Cancun Downtown and given its entertainment offer is a worth visiting location.

To reach any spot in this first section of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, use any bus or taxi from Cancun Downtown or any part of the hotel zone. Simply ask the driver for the place you are looking for, every taxi driver knows the area very well. Another option is to walk along the sideway, under the shade of the palm trees. (Bring a bottle of water anyway).

Along the North Beach you will find many attractions, including Captain Hook or famous La Boom nightclub. You will also find Playa Linda Dock, where a huge panoramic tower and a museum of typical Mexican handicrafts are visited by tourists.

In this section, along a nice sidewalk, people love to ride bicycles, to skate, to jog or, simply, to stroll under the shade of palm trees.

By Playa Tortugas you will see spring-break-classic Fat Tuesday, throwing legendary parties every night. Playa Langosta is a little further and besides a nice beach you will find a dock offering boat rides to Isla Mujeres. Of course, you will find a lot of hotels by the Pok ta Pok Golf course along the way. Closer to Punta Cancun, you will find a supermarket for your convenience.

It is very easy to move along the hotel zone by bus. There is only one street, either you go towards downtown or towards the airport. There are two types of buses in the hotel zone: The regular ones charge $0.65 USD, and the brand new ones painted in blue with AC, charge $1.10 USD. You can´t get lost. People are very friendly and helpful in any case.
