Acapulco Traditional Zone, Acapulco


Acapulco Traditional Zone is located from Caleta Beach to Papagayo Park. This zone is about 14 miles (22 km.) southeast of Acapulco International Airport. This romantic and colorful area of the port has many attractions by day and night and, besides, it is possible to know the daily life of its people.

One of the zones in which Acapulco is divided is the Traditional Zone, that is the oldest part of the city. It was developed between the 30´s and the 50´s. This romantic and colorful area of the port has many attractions by day and night and, besides, it is possible to know the daily life of its people.

Acapulco Traditional Zone is located from Caleta Beach to Papagayo Park. This zone is about 14 miles (22 km.) southeast of Acapulco International Airport. By air, Acapulco is easily reachable from almost any city in North America. By land, it is about 200 miles (320 km.) southwest of Mexico City. By sea, many cruiser lines come from the United States to harbor in the peer, located in the "Zona Dorada".

In Acapulco Traditional Zone, the "Zocalo" is a lovely place from dawn to sunset; it is the perfect place to enjoy a good cold beer and a fresh Mexican seafood dish. Recommended sites to visit are San Diego Fort and Our Lady of Solitude Cathedral. You can also go to the Municipal Palace, which is a building from year 1607 that used to be a Franciscan convent. The Ecumenical Chapel for the Peace and Alvarez Fort are other interesting sites. In this zone you can know the daily life of Acapulco, together with the habits and activities of its kind people.



In this zone of the port is "La Quebrada" show, internationally known; you can get there easily in 5 minutes by taxi from downtown. Acapulco Traditional Zone is like a picture of the real life of Mexico; it is very nice to appreciate the markets and old houses, some of them with colonial architecture.

Acapulco Traditional Zone has an extensive variety of beaches of golden sand. The sand has fine to thick grain. The waves on these beaches are slow. Beaches are: "Hornitos", "Caleta", "Caletilla", "La Angosta", "Manzanillo", "Honda", La Larga", "Tlacopanocha", "Tamarindos", "Hornos", "Pagayo", and "Roqueta".

Acapulco, in any of its zones, offers all the attractions that a great tourist destination ought to have. There are several banks, currency exchange companies, charters airlines, markets, shopping malls, restaurants, discos, car rental companies, and a long list of activities in order for visitors to enjoy their stay. The weather is subtropical almost the whole year and temperature varies, according to altitude, between 24 and 33° C. or 75 to 91° F.
