Las Marietas is a group of islands located in Banderas Bay. It served as a Federal Protected Natural Park for birds, sea turtle, dolphins and many tropical fish. Information: Las Marietas is an all time favorite for snorkeling, diving or simply enjoying a day at the beach in a natural paradise. This group of islands has a coral reef, various caves to explore while diving. Kayaks are also available, they will allow you to explore each corner of the islands. These islands are a very popular place to learn scuba diving in many tours. Various species use Las Marietas has a giant nursery, particularly birds, with more than 50 species. From December to April, the humpback whales also come here to breed their toddlers. If you are lucky, you will be able to observe them play around. As this is a Mexican Federal Reserve, you will not be allowed to stay more than a few hours on the beach, to protect the ecosystem.
