Mazatlan, on the Pacific Ocean coast , is well known for its incredible beach. From the Golden Zone to downtown, there are several places to enjoy a great day under the sun, swimming and playing in the ocean.

North beach (Playa Norte) is a 3 miles white strip of sand. It is located at the beginning of Av. del Mar and is usually crowded with the locals on weekends. In weekdays, it is a great place to relax and enjoy your day. Waves are usually small and this is a good place for your children to enjoy their vacation.
On the northern part of North beach, you will find Valentino’s Disco. This is a good place to enjoy surfing as the waves are bigger. If you enjoy fishing, give it a try, you will find there some rocks with an important marine life.

Playa Camaron - Playa Gaviotas: These beaches are located in the Golden Zone of Mazatlan. This is where major hotels are located. The view is spectacular and they have gentle waves, bright powdery sand and breathtakinge sunsets. These two beaches are where all the tourists gather. You will find lots of activities around, the best part is that most of the hotels offer service right on the beach. These beaches are also great for the children.

Olas Altas Beach: Olas Altas means Big Wave. It was the first tourist beach of Mazatlan, and is located at the Malecon (Pier). It is the best place to enjoy surfing due to its waves. It is not recommended to swim there as there are strong currents and the waves can be pretty strong. But if you just wish to just get suntanned and relax on the sand, Olas Altas is a good choice. Besides, you can observe the surfers riding the waves. There are several cafes on the Malecon where you can relax and enjoy a cold beer of a soft drink.
