Welcome to La Roqueta Island

La Roqueta is a small island located in Acapulco Bay, 30 minutes from shore. This is a federal protected area, with tropical fauna and flora, ideal for snorkeling or spending a day in nature. There is also a zoo, featuring many species of animals.

The island is located in front of Caleta and Caletilla beaches, right off downtown Acapulco. It can only be reached by boat. The dock is at Caleta Beach and the boats leave every 45 minutes during day time. We suggest you to use a glass bottom boat to enjoy the view of the tropical fish during the trip.

There is a zoo in the island featuring many animals. You will be able to see tigers, crocodiles, lions, turtles, monkeys, giraffes, deer, and much more. There is a large population of iguanas and tropical animals in the island, none of them are dangerous. The tropical ecosystem of the island and it features lush vegetation, mainly of palm trees, lemon, almond and many small tropical trees such as Tamarind, Chaya, etc…
Please keep in mind that it is not allowed to interfere with the fauna and flora (i.e. it is not allowed to cut flowers, or take vegetation or animals with you).

On top of the small hill in the center of the island, there is a working lighthouse which can be visited. This give you a stunning view of Acapulco Bay and the jungle of the island.
We suggest you enjoy snorkeling or diving around the island, watching the rich ecosystem underwater.

Roqueta island has small restaurants and a souvenir stores near its dock.
