Deep Sea Fishing, Acapulco Mexico

Acapulco is one of the best spots to enjoy deep sea fishing on the Pacific Coast. From Marlins to Sharks, Mahi-Mahi, Yellow Fin Tuna and Sailfish, the waters around the bay are full of some of the best catch you can dream of.

The main species you can fish around Acapulco are Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Mahi-Mahi (know locally as Durango), Sailfish, Sharks (Sharpnose, Thresher and Scalloped Hammerhead are the most common), Stripped Marlin, White Marlin and Yellow fin Tuna. To enjoy the best experience, it is recommended to start the fishing expedition as early as 6:00 or 7:00 am. The best spots are located around 20 miles off shore, and while traveling the first part of the trip you will be able to catch several Barrilete which are commonly used as bait for sailfish. When reaching the deep sea area of fishing, you will just need to concentrate on your catch.

For the experienced fisherman, a typical Sailfish takes around 30 minutes to land and a marlin can last as long as 5 hours, especially the larger ones.
For the less experienced fishermen, starting with Spanish Mackerel (Caballa Española, around 15 pounds) or Cravelle Jack (Jurel, which can weight up to 50 pounds) is a good idea.
Deep sea fishing is quite an experience in Acapuclo and we are sure you will enjoy your day. The fishing expeditions last usually around 6 hours and include your Mexican fishing license.

All of the fish can be found in Acapulco’s water all year round, but depending the season, the odds can be a little better.
