At La Quebrada, for many years now, divers have performed dives from a 45 meters cliff in a sheer inlet of the Pacific Ocean, for the enjoyment of tourists. The show is performed by day and night; the last one is the most impressive with divers waving torches and plunging into the night.

La Quebrada is located few minutes from Acapulco old town. You can easily reach the cliff by taxi from any hotel in the city. El Mirador Hotel is located right at La Quebrada and gives you a unique view of the show.
If you are in downtown, near the main square, you can easily walk up the hill towards the Cliff. The walk is pleasant and it will take no longer than 15 minutes.

Acapulco is famous for this show, many people know the city for its cliff divers. Since the mid-40’s, this has been an Acapulco Trademark. Everyday during the afternoon and at night, several divers will perform this incredible show.
From the cliff climb, the prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe at her altar right on top before diving... all is traditionally performed. The most experienced divers will jump from 45 meters. Divers´ trick is to synchronize the entrance in the ocean with an upcoming wave to grant enough water will be between himself and the bottom as the inlet is shallow, only 11 feet deep. This is harder than it seems: they must consider time spent diving, the wind, and the height of the wave.

Most of the divers not only dive but perform acrobatic jumps for the enjoyment of the spectators.
The show at night follows the same procedure, but the divers jump with torches, thus allowing you to watch their dive clearly until they disappear in the dark ocean.
After coming out of the water, the diver will pass through the public for pictures and tips.

There are several options to watch this incredible show. One sure fact is that arriving early grants you the best spot.
You can arrive by boat and observe the show directly from the ocean. You can also observe it from El Mirador hotel which has a terrace overlooking La Quebrada cliff or simply go straight to a small cliff under La Quebrada.
